The Lamplighter in Kapfenberg

From 1863 to 1906 it was the daily job of a designated lamplighter to maintain the streetlights, which used to be oil lamps in those days. Local historian Helga Papst plays the role of the lamplighter and invites you to join her lamp-lighting tour of the town. She tells visitors stories about her hard life and the history of Kapfenberg. She will gladly reveal the recipe of her “elixir of life”, the magic herbal potion which keeps her healthy.
